I only try to dance better than myself.”
- Mikhail Baryshnikov

Fundamentals Fridays before FNBlues 8:30-9:30
If your brand new to Blues Dancing this is the class for you! We will cover some of the fundamental aspects of Blues such as pulse, how we connect to your partner, and about blues music. One of the goals of this class is to get you out on the floor for your first night out, and show you what makes blues dancing so different from other dances. Some people choose to take this class more than once until they have fully digested all the concepts presented.
Intermediate Fridays before FNBlues from 8:30-9:30
To give you a more complete understanding of a topic, we are presenting you with “Chapters” for the Intermediate class. Classes can be taken individually, but are meant to build skills in a particular area of dance.
We teach specific movements that are a part of the blues vocabulary, but classes at FNBlues will almost always also offer a theory behind the movements. We will teach you to dance through being able to analyze the ‘why’ and ‘how’ things work. We emphasize creativity and historical context. Ultimately, taking class is your vehicle to having even more fun on the dance floor!
February & March Chapters: Xtended Fundamentals with various teachers
During February & March, FNBlues will be hosting X-Tended Fundamentals classes instead of our regular Intermediate Series.
The Xtended Fundamentals is meant for dancers who have already taken the Fundamentals class and are looking to round out their leading and following skills.
Each class will be a separate subject designed to cover some of the basic things you need in blues dance so that you can walk into the more specialized & intense Intermediate classes with knowledge and confidence.
These classes are particularly great for those interested in focusing on their non-dominant dance role!
We are lucky to be based in New York City, and have the opportunity to host workshops with regional, national, and international instructors from all over the world. Check out the Upcoming Workshops tab to find out more about what is coming up!
